New Event at the Clubhouse! The local Relay for Life Chapter (Cancer Society) is opening the club each Saturday at 11 AM for Hot Dogs, Chili, and hot drinks. End time each week is expected to be variable, based on business, but they expect to be open until at least 3 PM. This event is intended as a fund raiser for the organization, as well as a service to snowmobilers. The Petoskey Snowmobile Club is providing the building at no cost to the group, and receives no compensation.

Gas is available for a suitable donation to the club, for snowmobilers running low.

MAJOR TRAIL WORK PERFORMED TO GET THE TRAILS READY FOR 2003/2004 SEASON

Trail Brushing -  The trails suffered major wind damage over the summer/fall. We have spent approximately 300 man-hours brushing the trail this year. This far exceeds the "normal year". Thanks for all the help getting the trail brushed this year.

Trail Signing - The trails are signed this year to the DNR's new signing plan. The plan requires a couple of significant changes to the trail signs that added to the workload, but will help get all of the State trails more consistent and more safe.

Relocate the stop ahead and yield ahead signs to 350-feet before the stop/yield.

Replace Stop and Stop Ahead signs with new-style signs

Update sharp curve signage to include two chevrons on the opposite side of trail.

This was actually a requirement last year, but could not be completed due to a shortage of chevrons. This work is significant, since all sharp curve signage (existing and new) had to change.

We spent approximately 200 man-hours signing the trail this year. This also is far in excess of the "normal year". We would like to thank the newly-formed Boyne Valley Snowmobile Club for their hard work helping us on this part of the project. They volunteered their help and really came out to help us. We look forward to working with them in the future on other endeavors. They want to get a trail into Boyne Falls and beyond.

Thanks for your interest. If you would like to express any comments, please feel free to contact us at: "creyner@freeway.net".
